The physics of golf

It is a poor workman who curses his tools. Any golfer who wishes to improve his game must work on himself.

Usually, little progress can be made in understanding a physical event, such as the swing of a golf club, if the event is initially considered in all its complexity. The investigator must choose a simplified model to simulate the event. The model must be simple enough to be manageable but not so simple that it does not contribute to understanding the original event.
